Q: I have been released and have no club: how do I get back onto the footballing ladder?
A: Firstly, you must not panic. Although the previous club may not have appreciated your
talents, it is highly likely that another will. You need to get your name out there so clubs
recognise you and your ability. As well as this, you need to observe the guidance posted on `Iam above the age of 16 and want to become a professional footballer, what do I need to do?` at the top of this question and answer page.
Q: I am above the age of 16 and want to become a professional footballer, what do I need to do?
A: Firstly you need to fill in an online CV on this website. This service is free of charge. When you
have done this you can then decide who and/or where to send your CV, there are many options
for this all available on this website, along with the prices. When you have decided on your
future aspirations and the payment has been received, we will process your application and you
could well be on your way to playing professional football.
Q: My son is 14 years old, is this too young to have an agent?
A: A player cannot sign a contract with an agent until the year he reaches 16. A pre-contract
agreement can be offered by agents for players who really stand out, but up until the player is
18 years of age written consent of a parent of guardian is needed for the deal to be processed
formally.
Q: People say that I am too small for football?
A: For any football player to play in the game, they do not have to be the biggest, strongest or
fastest to be successful, this is especially true at the youth level. At any youth level many players
have not fully developed and still have plenty of time to grow in height. It is more important to
display a positive mental attitude, this goes a long way in helping not only your game but your
teammates as well. For any young footballers there are many aspects of the game which have
to be monitored in order to succeed.
Q: How do I become the best of my age group?
A: Playing football at any professional level requires hard work, if signing a professional contract
is the young players aim, then the hard work will be worthwhile. It is important to constantly
strive to improve your game in areas such as fitness, technique, tactical awareness and any
other aspects of the game which aren’t considered your strongest, this will allow you to become
a better player and ensure that you stand out.
Q: How do I reach the top?
A: As professional football can be a relatively short career, players need to be at their best of
ability at all times in order for them to be recognised and not replaced by other players,
especially at youth level. Staying at the top of your game requires focus and commitment, you
need to work hard on a daily basis to improve on all aspects of your game. Push yourself to
learn new things, improve yourself physically and mentally with new ways of training and stay
up to date with current football news.

Q: What do I do if I do not have the correct method of payment?
A: Currently, My First Agent offers credit/debit card and PayPal as it's payment methods which we feel are accessible. You do not need a PayPal account to pay with a credit/debit card. Please contact us if you can not comply with these, and we will do our upmost to arrange a suitable transaction via bank transfer.
Q: How do I pay?
A: You can only pay when you have completed your CV. From this stage there is an option
where you can personally select to whom you wish your CV to be sent. When this has been
completed the payment facility will be at the bottom of the page, with simple instructions to
follow.
Q: If I select 'English Agents', how many agents will receive my CV?
A: Currently, we have 213 agents who will receive your CV and potentially work with you to
maximise the possibility of you finding a professional club.
Q: Can you publish my video on this site to showcase my skills?
A: Yes. Provided you are legally permitted to upload good quality footage of you in action, it is
possible that we may be able to showcase it via My First Agent as part of a proposed video
section. Drop us a line with the Youtube link if you want to be considered for inclusion in this
project when it goes live (full details TBC).
Q: Who is able to look at my CV if I join the database?
A: In the first instance your CV will be viewed by our site staff, who are able to rectify any major errors they may spot in your details. Clubs and reputable agents that we work with are able to request players of a particular skill level/location/position and as a general rule of thumb we will only let them see your footballing experience at first, this does not include your name or contact details which will only be provided if they are genuinely interested in approaching you.
We will not supply any information to any third parties that does not confirm with UK law or
football regulations (e.g. we will not pass personal contact details of contracted players to other clubs - all approaches would have to be channeled through your existing club).
Q: When can I expect to hear from someone if I have been successful in my application?
A: My First Agent sends your application out to the very best of agents and although we cannot
guarantee replies, our system has proved to be very successful in finding agents and clubs for
up-and-coming footballers, getting them on to the first rung of their football career ladder.
Q: Are there any countries in which you do not operate?
A: We are best placed to assist players in Europe, the Americas, Australia and various other
territories, but it is difficult for us to operate in countries currently affected by conflict. Please
note that we would also discourage registrations from non-professional players in western
African countries (most notably Nigeria and Ghana) as we receive an overwhelming number of
applications from this area that we simply cannot assist in an in-depth basis unless you are already playing at a top level and possess both the talent and documentation/international
experience to be able to play and work in the UK.
Q: Do you work with players from outside the UK?
A: Yes, we have been able to help players who have travelled from as far afield as the USA, Brazil
and Australia for trials with UK clubs. A number of the agents we work with have been
successful in securing top flight contracts for players from outside the UK heading to this
country for the first time.
Q: Are My First Agent interested in joining other companies in partnership?
A: My First Agent receives many business opportunities and we are interested in these. Despite this, due to the volume of emails we receive we are unable to reply to each one separately.
Q: Do My First Agent deal with other sports?
A: Currently, My First Agent deal primarily deal with players who want to play Football or Soccer
(as it is also known). We do not currently deal with the American version of football.
Q: I have a specific question that is not dealt with in the above, what can I do?
A: Please go to the `contact us` section of the website and submit your question if it is not dealt with in the above or on the homepage.
